Yahoo created an issue earlier this season when they dropped Ilya Bryzgalov from their player pool even though he didn't retire, or leave for another league.
Some managers wanted to keep Bryzgalov on their roster until he signed with another team, but Yahoo didn't allow this choice.
Also, now some managers of Ilya Kovalchuk want to hold onto his rights.
We need to create a rule as to what to do in the current (Kovalchuk) and possible future cases.
This only pertains to NHL players. Per the manager’s decision, Farm team players may be kept as long as they retain their eligibility (less than 42 NHL games played).
We have two choices:
1. Keep the Status Quo, which is the player is dropped from the roster. If, or when Yahoo adds the player back to their pool of players, the player goes through our normal waiver process.
2. A manager chooses to retain the rights to the player, but must forfeit a #1 draft pick from the next available Farm draft.
Please vote Yes or No on the following dubbed "The Bryzgalov Rule":
"If for any reason a player (regardless of skill level), is dropped from Yahoo's available list of players, the manager with his rights must drop him into Free agency. The player will go through our normal waiver process if he returns. There will be no option to retain rights to the player by forfeiting a #1 draft pick from the next available Farm draft."
VOTING
The rule will require at least 7 votes to carry - meaning there will be no rule change unless more than half of the managers in the league want it.
